VIKING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM...
The Viking Assistance Program is growing all the time. Louise and Ruth and other volunteers are keeping busy every month. They pay visits to all the clients in the greater K.C. area about once a month. They also keep in touch by mail with the two out of town. We do have a volunteer in Humansville that help us down in that area.
Each holiday we try to treat each client with some little gift or treat or a special card. Ruth sends out out a lot of cards each month... especially sympathy cards. Louise checks the obits in the paper each day and passes this info onto Ruth. This is to let the families know that we care.
Louise and Ruth get about as much enjoyment from their visits to the clients as the clients themselves. We get a lot of hugs and kisses. We get a lot of positive comments from those we visit. We are keeping a scrap book of all the notes we receive.
One of the best attended occasions this year was the birthday party for Gladys Wilson 106 years old. Many of our board attended along with many others. If the Lord willing we will be having a birthday party celebrating her 107th year in March of 2004.
