About 1945, the Board of Education decided to add an 8th grade to the system. This resulted in 7th graders repeating a grade (the 8th), which resulted in fewer seniors for each high school in Kansas City for the 1949-1950 school year. It was estimated that Northeast would have about 100 seniors instead of the usual 500. Since much of the financial support for the year book came from the graduating seniors, it was felt it would be a financial loss, and it was not published... So.. No 1949-1950 year book.
