Northeast High School - 1st Basketball Team...
Shared By Garry Dashner '66

“This picture of the first basketball team at Northeast High School, in Kansas City, Missouri, is from the very first Nor’easter yearbook and the 1913-1914 school year,” notes Garry Dashner of Verona. “Unfortunately, the new building was not completed until May, so the students got to go to their new school for only a month before school let out. The inexperienced basketball team did not win one of their nine games, but they played against veteran teams. The Vikings also had to play each game on their opponent’s home court since their gymnasium wasn’t ready. Pictured are (front row, from left) Harold Tallquist, Morris Major, E. Swearingen (captain), Hewitt Swearingen, (back row, from left) Thomas Condon, coach C.B. Root, Thomas Woodbury and Leo Ayres.”
