Fred L. Heine

Fred L. Heine, 89, of Platte City, MO, formerly of Independence and Lee's Summit, MO passed away August 14, 2006. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2006, at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12:00-2:00pm with the rosary at 1:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Valley Kiwanis Club, 6618 Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64126. Fred was born September 30, 1916 in Kansas City, MO. He was a graduate of Baker University where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and a member of the Sports Hall of Fame. Fred worked for the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools from 1942 until 1985. He served as teacher and coach at Northeast High School. He then became Vice-Principal and then Principal at Van Horn High School before transferring to East High School to serve as Principal. Fred was elected to the Kansas City School Board in 1982 where he served as President in 1984. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Northland Kansas City, MO, an active member of the Blue Valley Kiwanis Club and was instrumental in establishing the Midtown Kiwanis Club. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Catherine C. Heine; his daughter, Beverly Heine and a great grandson, Bryan Rea. His survivors include his four daughters, Cathie Wootton of Denver, CO, Cecelia Birckhead of Omaha, NE, Louise Schaefer and husband Pat of Greeley CO, Michele Anderson and husband Bill of Platte City, MO; nine grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.(Arrangements: Muehlebach Funeral Home, 816-444-2060)
